Missy Elliott Biopic In The Works

NEWS

What was rumor is now fact. Missy Elliot is working with biographers and film writers to complete a film about her life. The biopic will chronicle the many trials and tribulations of Elliot's, given name Melissa Arnette, early life; specifically, her tumultuous relationship with an abusive father, dysfunctional home, and the habitual sexual abuse that came at the hands of an older cousin. In a recent interview with Elle Magazine, the only female rapper to have six platinum albums remarked about the project, “It's happening; I've just got to find a great writer because I wouldn't want my story watered down. I went through a lot, and I accomplished a lot, and I want people to know how it all went down."

Producers for the film include acclaimed actor Robert De Niro and Jane Rosenthal. The film is tentatively set to being written and directed by Diane Houston. Elliott has said that she was still working on the script with Houston in order "to come up with the right stuff cause I don't want it to be watered down. I want it to be raw and uncut the way my life was." Timbaland is still mulling over whether he wants to appear or be represented in the flick. No word yet from Ginuwine, Tweet, or Magoo about them possibly appearing in the film either.

Meanwhile, Misdemeanor fans have only a little while longer to wait on the stars next album. Block Party, which has originally slated for an 08' release, is uncertainly set for an December 2009 release. The album's first single, “Ching-A-Ling”, was released well over a year ago. The album features appearance from Jazmine Sullivan, Teyana Taylor, Melanie Brown, T-Pain, and Tweet. Fellow Virginians Pharell & Timbaland are slated to produce the majority of the album.
