Partnering up with Duck Down Records, which has released albums for rap acts such as Sean Price, Boot Camp Clik and Buckshot & 9th Wonder, Blue Scholars will be on the scene as it is set to release several projects through its partnership with the record label and with Seattle’s Caffe Vita Coffee Co.

Dru Ha, CEO of Duck Down Records states, “I believe Blue Scholars is positioned to be one of the next important groups, not just in Hip-Hop, but in music worldwide, and I want Duck Down to be a part of that. They bring their progressive ideas not just to their music and lyrics, but also in the way they think about and do their business.”

The venture with Duck Down Records is not the standard deal as Blue Scholars hired the label to be in charge of marketing for their upcoming work. Duck Down seized the opportunity and used this as a chance to become more creative and be experimental with strategies to continue growth at records labels and build them into practical businesses. Distribution will be handled by E1 Entertainment, the distribution partner of Duck Down, and digital sales will be handled by Tunecore.

Seattle Independent coffee company, Caffe Vita, will serve as the financing for the groups projects as it will also be used in terms of a sales and distribution plan through selling their albums at their retail outlets and utilizing their online presence.

“Coffee is both International and local, it effects the lives of millions, and it has tremendous ability to generate culture. We believe strongly in the work of the Blue Scholars and their power to look beyond the basic commodity that music has become. We are honored that Sabzi and Geo see that Vita is striving for the same goals.” Mike McConnell, founder Caffe Vita

For those that don’t know, Blue Scholars is a Hip-Hop group based in Seattle, Washington that can be categorized as being alternative rap. Music Festival in 2005, 2006 and 2008. They opened up for Kanye West’s set in 2006 at Bumbershoot.

Blue Scholars have also rapped on stage alongside rap acts like Immortal Technique, Nas, De La Soul and Little Brother along with many others.

On August 25, the group is set to bring forth their newest project OOF!, a multi-media project, which will serve as the debut since their deal with Duck Down. There will also be a re-release of their 2007 album, Bayani, which will be called Bayani Redux. Fans should expect a brand new album along with more projects from the group coming shortly.
