Chicago Loses Olympic Bid; 2016 Games Go To Rio
For anyone looking to bask in the celebratory ambiance while catch a breeze from Lake Michigan, there is always next year, figuratively speaking anyway.
Delegation from Chicago threw everything they had into the effort to elevate their city to a national level that it has never achieved by bringing the 2016 Olympic games to the capital of Illinois.
Unfortunately, members of the International Olympic Committee would not grant the city that opportunity, quickly rejecting its bid in the first round of voting.
“We introduced Chicago to the world,” explained Chicago bid chairman Patrick Ryan. “ Chicago is much better known today and appreciated and respected, all around the world.”
The second round say the delegation from Tokyo be eliminated after their pitch of the technological advancement accompanied by “Green” superiority fell upon deaf ears.
In the end Rio De Janiero was declared the winner and will play host to the 2016 Summer Olympic Games. The confirmation of the South American host city will garner it over a billion dollars in economic support and higher prestige on the international stage.
