R&B’s ATL super group, Jagged Edge,  has been missing from the music scene for two years since their Baby Making Project hit stores in 2007. Now with the help of Slip N Slide Records, the group’s been revamped, recharged and is due for a repeat. Wingo, Kyle and the twins, Brian and Brandon, are back with a new label, a new sound and a new way to make the ladies scream. According to them they’ve got The Remedy and spoke with HipHopWired exlcusively about how they plan to bring R&B the cure

it needs.

After leaving the ranks of So So Def and Island Def Jam, the group’s been welcomed with open arms into the Slip N’ Slide family. Wingo was especially excited about the new move and spoke out about the group’s responsibility to prove themselves to the label. Likewise, he says the label must do the same for them.

“At the end of the day, we’re in a new situation that gives everybody a chance to prove themselves to each other, the label has to prove themselves to us, we have to prove ourselves to the label. We’ve proven ourselves over the years, not in this situation, so at the end of the day, it’s a new situation for us and we want to try and make the best of it.”

Now with the backing of Miami’s gritty- street certified label, the quartet is preparing to release The Remedy. As the group’s seventh studio album, the new album will serve as a long awaited reintroduction to the group’s signature smooth vocals and exploration of their new freedom. Brandon also made sure to name drop some of the biggest producers in the game that attributed their skills to the project.

“We got Brian Michael Cox on there….Drumma Boy….we produce a bunch of songs. We got our own producers on the album, Gorilla Tech, a wide variety of producers. Being at Slip and Slide you do have a little more freedom as far as branching out and reaching out to other producers so that’s been fun so far.”

When asked when the project would hit stores, his brother Brian answered and mentioned that a first quarter debut was in the works. He also made sure to assure fans to stay patient saying,

“First quarter, we don’t have an exact date, so usually in the industry if you have a date it’s gonna change, so it doesn’t matter, it’ll be out when it comes out.”

Be on the lookout for Jagged Edge’s cure for R&B, The Remedy, coming soon.
