Kasim Reed Wins Recount & Is Deemed Official Mayor of Altanta
Spectators and speculators of Atlanta's politically brutal mayoral races knew that runner-up Mary Norwood would not go quietly into the night after suffering the bitter taste of defeat. But now the former city councilwoman has no choice but to ride peacefully into the night after losing to her younger, better suited opponent, Kasim Reed, in an official runoff recount.
The former state senator bested his worthy adversary by a 714 votes, a slim margin but enough to secure his position as the 49th mayor of the Capital of the South.
Under Georgia law, a recount can be guaranteed at the behest of anyone involved in the electoral process when the margin of victory is less that 1% of the total vote.
84,000 votes were placed in all.
Congrats Mr. Mayor!!!
Now please bring Freaknik back?!?!?!
