Florida County Welcomes Its First Black Female Judge
The only predominately Black county in Florida has finally sworn it is first Black and first female judge. Gadsden County is welcoming Attorney Kathy Garner into her new position after the retirement of Judge Stewart E. Parsons.
Governor Charlie Crist commemorated the historic moment saying,
“With more than a decade of experience as an investigator and a child advocate, she has demonstrated the appropriate balance between compassion and justice needed by a judge.”
Before her appointment, Garner was a child support hearing officer and a sole practitioner with the Garner Law Group since 2000.
Good for her.
