The widow of Ebony magazine founder John Johnson has passed away.

Eunice Johnson died Sunday of renal failure in Chicago according to reps for her Johnson Publishing Company. She was 93-years-old.

The maven is noted for starting Fashion Fair cosmetics with her husband in 1961. Additionally her Ebony Fashion Fair fashion show has been in operation since 1961. The traveling show has been staged in nearly 200 cities nationwide.

She is credited with naming her husband’s magazine Ebony and for being the secretary treasurer for Johnson Publishing Company, the operators of Jet and Ebony magazine.
