Grandma Drowns 5-Year-Old Grandson
A 71-year-old grandmother is facing a murder charge after authorities say she drowned her 5-year-old grandson in Florida.
Marianne Bordt is believed to have killed her grandson Camden Hiers in the bathtub while her husband went to the grocery store.
According to police, she killed the child because his parents were divorcing and she did not want him to grow up in the household.
Following his death, the grandmother attempted to commit suicide by wading out into the Gulf of Mexico in heavy clothes.
Since the suicide was unsuccessful, she'll have to face the judicial system and a charge of first-degree murder.
She is being held in a Florida jail and is on suicide watch.
First-degree murder is punishable by the death penalty in Florida.
