Racist Philly Swim Club Sued
The infamous Philadelphia swim club that made headlines for turning away Black and Latino children that changed the "complexion" of the business is getting its just due after being served with court papers.
The Justice Department has filed a discrimination lawsuit against the Huntingdon Valley swim club claiming that the establishment engaged in a pattern of racial discrimination.
The lawsuit is seeking to ban the swim club and any other business from acting in a manner.
Assistant Attorney General Thomas E. Perez for the Civil Rights Division issued a statement denouncing the swim club saying,
"It is illegal and inexcusable to discriminate against patrons by barring them from a place of public accommodation on the basis of race or color.”
If you can remember, following the incident in the summer the Huntingdon Valley Swim Club was fined $50,000 by the Pennsylvania Human Rights Commission and was forced to file for bankruptcy.
