10-Year-Old Accidentally Shoots And Kills 11-Year Old Brother
A family in Deerfield Beach, California is grieving after their 10-year-old son accidentally shot his 11-year-old brother in the face, killing him instantly.
Police report that 11-year-old Randy Reddick was dead on the scene after his younger brother Terrence Reddick accidentally shot him in the face.
The two boys were asked by their father to go get a hat out his pick-up truck. While looking for the object, Terrence discovered his dad's 40-caliber Glock pistol and fired it accidentally, striking his brother.
Witnesses report that the boy was hysterical and screaming,
“'It was a mistake. It went off by itself. I didn't mean to do it. I shot my brother!”
When the father, Randy Reddick Sr., came outside he saw his namesake on the ground with no signs life.
He tells the Sun Sentinel,
"I knelt down to see if there was life. There wasn't, so I kissed him, covered him up with the coat, and began to pray.”
The shooting has been ruled accidental.
Riddick had a permit for the weapon.
