When trying to build a buzz around one’s self, some artists resort to the mixtape circuit to establish their foundation and gain a following from listeners.

Others, however, that just have the talent from the gate, do not feel the need to go through the auditions and just allow their official releases speak for themselves.

Dropping 11 solo albums, it comes to be a surprise that rapper Scarface has never dropped a mixtape, but it is slowly coming into fruition now that the rapper had ended his retirement and returning to drop his first mixtape, Dope Man Music.

Expected to drop this spring, Face spoke with MTV on how he always had the desire to drop an independent tape and the fact that he’s sitting on a crate of music that he feels the fans should know of.

“I always wanted to drop a mixtape on my own. So I just said, ‘Let’s drop an independent mixtape.’ I feel that I should be as an adult and musician and pioneer — that’s what they call me. I feel that I need to move on to another stage with the way I deliver my music to the public. I got a lot of Isht and I’m using about 3 percent of what I know about music. I’m not using it all. I’m music. I can play that Isht long enough for a real musician to catch it and feel me, where I’m going, and we make magic like that.“

Well, for all of the doubters, it’s official…Scarface is entering the squared circle of Hip-Hop once again.
