Man Jumps To His Death Off The Empire State Building

POLITICS

A  21-year-old Yale University student is dead after jumping 86 floors to his death off the Empire State Building.

Cameron Dabaghi got past the 10-foot high fence on the observation deck of the building where he plunged to his death in front of horrified onlookers.

One witness described the scene to the New York Daily News saying,

“It was an explosion.  His body was shattered and his sneakers were scattered on the sidewalk.”

Dabaghi left a suicide note in his dorm room apologizing and saying he planned to jump from either the George Washington Bridge or Empire State Building.

At least 34 people have jumped off the Empire State Building since it opened in 1931.

Thats awful! I can't imagine what it would have been like to be their. All the tourists on the building must have been horrified. Surely security could have stopped someone climbing over the fence! I wonder what his motives were. I think if you were attending Yale you would be set for life. But you never know I suppose.

The Empire State building is such a stoic US landmark, and for it to be *****ociated as suicide location is a tragic as well. But my heart goes out to the young mans family and friends. It's a real sad day when anyone dies and even more so when they take their owe life. Makes me appreciate mine even more.

I'm not sure I agree that it's "sad". Sad for his family, maybe. Sad for the people who had to watch this selfish idiot, definitely. But not sad for him. He did it to himself. I can't stand the outpouring of affection to those people who take their own lives. if they didn't respect themselves why should I? Hold a memorial for any small child that had to watch as he splattered all over the pavement, not for the moron that did it. Can't take the heat? Get the hell out of the kitchen, or jump off a building.

When dealing with mental illness and/or depression you can throw all the your preconceived notions about logic , morals ,american dreams, cliches and any ideology you may value out the window. It no longer is relevant to the victim suffering from this disease.
Mental breakdowns can and do totally render the victim incapable of functioning without extreme anguish from one second to the next.
The anger is understood but you have no inkling what was going on inside this persons mind . None.

Smartness or where one goes to school have nothing to do with what a person feels inside. I do believe it is sad. Sad that someone was suffering so in silence. It's sad for the folks that saw it. It was his choice & he made it but that choice came from wanting to stop the unbearable pain.

i was on a bus, on my way to a meeting and got detoured down 36 street. i was so put out and now i see that this is the unholy reason that the street was blocked off. how sad it is that this poor soul felt he needed to leave the earth. i am so sorry for this poor man and even more sorry for his family who will suffer for the rest of their days. i am so sad for this whole thing.
