Nas Gets Contempt Charge Dropped, Issues Statement
“All I want to do is make music and raise my kids…”
It looks like Young Escobar might finally be catching a break in his ongoing child support drama against his estranged wife Kelis.
As previously reported Nas was facing a contempt of court charge because he owed Kelis$200,000 in backed child support for their son Knight.
Following that, Nas was ordered to pay a portion of Kelis' legal fees, accounting expenses and spousal support totaling close to $300.000.
Now luckily for him the contempt charge has been dropped because he's paid the singer $50,000 in child support.
A spokesman for Nas confirmed to MTV that he was given some leeway in their court proceedings. The spokesman says that the charge was dismissed and that Kelis' attorney fees and spousal support payments have been taken care of.
“The contempt charges that were filed against Nas earlier this year in conjunction with his ongoing custody battle were thrown out yesterday by Judge David Cunningham III presiding over the case. Nas has paid all of the child support owed in full. His legal counsel today also settled on additional undisclosed financial terms, which included attorneys' fees and spousal support."
Nas has released a statement of his own saying that he just wants to move on.
“All I want to do is make music and raise my kids. Nothing else matters."
Nas has a daughter from a previous relationship.
Wow, hopefully this is the last we'll hear of these two in court.
I highly doubt it though…

Good for Nas. I can't wait for this gold-digging fiasco to be behind him so the guy can move on. Hopefully they get to the custody situation soon since he's being kept away from his child. Distant Relatives May 18th. Can't wait to buy the album to support two legends.

If Nas is living like king, his child deserves to be living like one as well. Too many brothers are too concerned about what the mother may be doing, when they should be focusing on their child. In Nas's case, if he wasn't balling like that his child support would have been much less, trust me this amount is not going to put too much of a dent in his pockets.
Nas paid all Kelis' legal fees and alimony in full so he has no dealings petaining to her at all! He was/is paying 11k per month for child support! This was all about Kelis thinking she deserved his money! Kelis is a gold digging w***** and her career is in the toilet!!!! Nas fought to the end he was not about to give this woman all his earnings and if he had to not pay to prove a point; so be it...in the end she gets her 300k and Nas gets to be free of her ugly *****! Now let's see if he gets to share custody of his son because he is truly the only one providing for him since Kelis claims she is broke!!!!
Nas is paying back child support because he wasn't paying his child support for months before Kelis took him to court. How do you justify not paying your child support? And does Nas want his child to live like a pauper while he lives like a king? I highly doubt it.
