While people sit and complain about how horrible their lives are and continue to drag their feet in despair, an average man from Missouri shows that there’s still hope.

Chris Shaw, 29, an everyday convenience store clerk recently won the Powerball jackpot and came forward on Thursday to claim his winnings of $258.5 million.

Purchasing the winning ticket on Wednesday from the store he works at, lottery officials are giving Shaw the option of receiving a lump around $125 million or gradually accumulate his funds within 30 installments.

Making the choice to take the lump sum will give the state $6 million in state income taxes.

It’s always humorous how America works and the fact that a person can be gutted so heavily with taxation, even when they WIN something.

The store where he purchased the ticket, Break Time, will also get broken off a bit of bread as it will be the recipient of $50,000 for selling the ticket.

So there you have it folks.  When you’re looking down that empty bottle of alcohol unaware of what’s next, remember the face of Chris Shaw.  If he can hit the jackpot, it’s almost certain that it’s more than just a coincidence.
