A 69-year-old Chicago man is being held on $3 million bond after police say he became so enraged that his neighbor’s puppy peed on his lawn that he shot and killed him.

Charles Clements is in police custody for the murder of 23-year-old Joshua Funches on Mother’s Day.

Clements was known for his landscaping and had previously won an award for having the “best-looking lawn” in the University Park area.

When Funches was walking his 5-month old fox terrier the puppy urinated on the man’s grass and the two men exchanged words.

When Clements produced a gun, the young man reportedly told him, “Next time you pull out a pistol, why don’t you use it?” before turning to walk away.

Police say the retired bus driver approached Funches from behind and shot him in the abdomen.

When police arrived they found they young man bleeding by a vacant home before he succumbed to his injury in an ambulance.

When they went to find Clements he had changed clothes and reportedly told them,

“I knew you were coming for me, that’s why I changed my clothes. I knew you were coming for me.”
