Hackers Change Road Signs To Say “No Latinos”, “No Tacos”
Construction workers in Florida are blaming hackers for two flashing road signs that greeted drivers on the Palmetto Expressway saying, “No Latinos” and “No Tacos.”
Officials say the signs are password protected and activated online but that hasn't stopped hackers from using them in the past.
NBC 6 reports that in Austin, Texas, a sign was hacked to say "ZOMBIES IN AREA! RUN while another in Indiana read, "RAPTORS AHEAD - CAUTION."
A spokesman for the company that makes the signs tells NBC that they're investigating the tampering.
"The hacked message was offensive and vandalistic. We had nothing to do with the message and we find the message both appalling and discriminatory.”
The signs were changed by 6 a.m. Tuesday morning.
