For the second time in less than a month a child in Baltimore, Maryland has tested positive for gonorrhea after police say she was sexually assaulted and given the virus.

An unidentified 22-year-old is in police custody after a 7-year-old girl was taken to a local hospital where she tested positive for the venereal disease.

The 22-year-old is believed to be her mother’s live-in-boyfriend and agreed to be tested for the virus to clear his name.

After his test results came back positive, police say he admitted to sexually assaulting the child and when asked why he did it, he reportedly responded:

“She came onto me…rubbing against me.”

The child’s mother also tested positive for the virus and was properly treated.

The case was reported the same day police received information that an 18-month-old from Cherry Hill had contracted gonorrhea.

The two cases are not related and both are under investigation.
