Already working with HBO in the past, Mos-Def is an Emmy nominated actor and hopes to be in the category again soon, as he joins the cast for HBO’s upcoming comedy “Enlightened.”

Written by Mike White and Laura Dern, the show revolves around the comedy star Dern as a self-destructive woman who decides to live an enlightened life, leading to chaos in her workplace and home.

Although Mos has acted on shows before, this will be his first full time series gig as we see him play Dern’s new boss when she returns to work from her “Enlightened” break.

Mos-Def has always been a beast on the mic, but it’s also his acting that has separated him from most of his Hip-Hop peers. Whether it was dressing up as a super hero on the Nick Jr. Kid’s show “Yo Gabba Gabba,” or it was Mos making us laugh along side of Dave Chappelle, with no stranger to your television Mos has done a lot of shows and movies and continues to grow.

Mos has also been featured in such works as “The Boondocks,” “House,” and his performance in “Something the Lord Made,” which he received an Emmy nomination for.
