Teen Mom Tries To Ease Life By Smothering Infant Son [Video]

Fort Worth Texas teenage mom Shantaniqua Scott was accused of engaging in a radical act of easing her life- by smothering her baby infant.

It was reported that the 17-year old Scott's infant boy, a special needs child -was suffocated by Scott on over four occasions.  The child managed to survive for four months and was transferred from a Waco hospital to Cook Children's Medical Center earlier this month.

He was treated for recurring, life-threatening gastroesophageal reflux and apnea.  The baby boy was staying in a video-monitored room when a code alarm sounded that indicated the boy's vital signs were failing.

When hospital staffers viewed the surveillance video, they saw 17-year-old Scott pressing a blanket on the child's face before placing her hand directly over his mouth and nose. Medical personnel were able to revive the infant and transfer him to pediatric intensive care.

When questioned by investigators,  Scott told investigators she didn't want the kid anymore – and that she wanted to go back to living a carefree life without the burden of a sick child.  Scott has been charged with injury to a child/serious bodily injury, and is being held on $25,000 bond.  The charges constitute as a first degree felony.

The infant is still hospitalized, and expected to recover. Once released, he will be placed in foster care because DCF is reportedly having difficulty in finding an appropriate relative to place the infant with.

    Something has to be done to stop these kids from having kids....and where are the parents!!!! we keep saying these kids are different, these kids are monsters, they're this, they're that but its CLEARLY bc these kids lack any type of guidance whatsoever...i believe parents that aren't actively raising their children should be prosecuted..its ridiculous and it effects others...

    I pray for that little boy and THIS IS EXACTLY WHY I SHUN TEEN PREGNANCY......YOU ARE NOT READY! I wish these teen girls would focus more an education and positive things then trying to become a statistic or welfare recipient!

    Wow! I can believe it because these kids are too young mentally to bare the burden of children! I have witness too much mental and physical abuse that is committed by teen mothers! This is a horrible story and I pray for his safety and recovery! I also pray she gets some help!

    This girl lacked the mental capacity, financial capacity, and family support to birth a child into this world, more over a child with a disability. She probably realized how much having a child compromised her life, specifically with him being sick and could not handle the pressure. Unfortunately her means to which she tried to escape resulted in her harming her own baby. This girl needed someone to intervene on her behalf, and probably felt that she had no one to turn to.

    this is the second story I have read today about a mother harming their child...please understand you can leave the child at a hospital or fire station and leave them if you feel your unable to take care of them, this law was p*****ed long ago. Your able to leave them there and give up your rights without any law consequence...they are usually given up for adoption, placed in foster care, or given to relatives, i would rather you do this and give them their own chance at life instead of murdering or harming them just to relieve yourself of what you consider is a burden

    Did she think about a care free life when she was getting knocked up. Yeah she is young but birth control and condoms are being thrown at these children and they still ignore it. I pray for the baby and hopes he finds some one who will want to take care of him.

    Please stop with the teen mom b.s. There have been grown A$$ adults in the news especially lately for injuring and killing their children. They couldn't handle the pressure of a special needs child or honestly just didn't want them. For instance that woman...I believe she was Indian...who forced her two autistic children to drink cleaning products and choked them when the products didn't kill them. And for what? Not because she felt they were suffering but because she wants normal children. SMDH. She has to be in her 40s. Oh and that white lady years ago in the news that drove the car with her children in the lake. These are only a few examples of adults who have taken the same route as this teen mom.

    Kids having babies don't understand at all the blessing,responsibility and the honor it is to have a baby. The LOVE that has to be given to a child must have not been experienced by the parent, when they were a child, to neglects their own child.

    it's women/girls like this that shouldn't be allowed to have children. when others either can't or have to struggle through loss/infertility to get their precious babies. things like this make me sick to my stomach anybody that could sink that low shouldn't be allowed to have children in the first place.

    First of all please do not say that this is ALL teen moms. I myself was a teen mom at 18 and now have a very happy and healthy 5 year old. I also work a full time job at a software company, help with his preschool homework, and am going to school to finish my masters degree with no help from my sons father or my parents. So again, please do not say that this is ALL teen moms...some of us can handle the situations we got ourself into. With that said, some of us can not and when that is the case the babies should be placed with a responsible party immediately. I somewhat consider this the systems fault. When a baby is born to any woman/girl under i believe 19 or 20 Social Services is automatically called and an interview is held. If they think you are unfit they would than take the baby or take the appropriate precautions. Obviously I kept my son and hes amazing. With that said THIS PARTICULAR teen mother should be punished for the cruelty she brought about for her child. It isnt right or fair what she did and I hope she pays the price and this blessing can thrive as best he can.

    100% co-sign with GG! This is a sad story.. The young lady's resolve was not right at all.. Life was given by her and is not hers' to take...She was only the carrier! However since she was so young having a disabled child, shouldn't she have been *****igned a social worker to begin with? Are WE failing the young people?! It's easy to judge if you don't know the cir*****stances, but are we really doing anything to prevent these teenage pregnancies?

    Being a teenager/young is not an excuse, nor is *****umeing its something the teens parents did wrong in raiseing them etc. Killing or harming anyone but especially your own precious child/baby is horrible, disgusting, and unexplainable. To say its strictly due to the parents being too young is ridiculous as well-if they r the type to do it now than they r the disgusting type to do it later too. As so many have already said-there r plenty of other options if you cannot or will not care for your own. Such people/filth deserve the death penalty and to die or suffer in the manner which their victim did.....

    I know my comment is bit too late but allow me to say it: Shantaniqua has blown her chances after being caught on camera. She has to pay dearly for what she did to that child and I hope he grows up healthy and alright despite what had happened to him. She could have had considered adopting that child out rather than take away his life when he has a bright future ahead of him. She brought him into this world but she has no right to decide if he has to die.
