Chicago Man Who Killed 8-Year-Old Jumping Rope: “We Didn't Care. We Let The Whole .40 Clip Go”

A Chicago man that admitted to police he killed an 8-year-old jumping rope expressed his nonchalance for the murder to police saying,

“We didn't care. We let the whole .40 clip go.”


17-year-old Steshawn Brisco is the first suspect arrested in connection with the murder of Tanaja Stokes who was jumping rope outside of her Chicago home when men rode by on bicycles and shot her and her cousin 7-year-old Ariana Jones in the head aiming for a group of nearby males.

Jones is still hospitalized from her injuries while Stokes was killed instantly.

Police are still searching for Brisco's accomplice who they believe is a minor well known in the community.

They've asked members of the neighborhood around 107th and Indiana for help, handing out fliers asking for assistance in capturing the second suspect.
Brisco faces charges of first degree murder, aggravated battery with a firearm and has been denied bond.

Anyone with information on the shooting is encouraged to call 312-747-8272 to help.

    There is nothing in Chicago for the people. No jobs, no programs for the kids. The schools are over crowded. They have nothing to look forward to or live for. Then you have the city that dont want to pay for any investagations , claiming it's because some of the victoms have been to jail or has had trouble in the past. So what that doesnt justify the fact that a killer or killers are loose on the street. Most of the children there raise themself. Nothing positive around to give hope!     Chicago is not terrible, it's the kids of a new generation, where parents have forgotten what a good azz whooping will do. I was born an raised on the southside of Chicago, an although there was crime, I don't think it was ever this bad. Nowadays,parents don't care. They're either too young to know how to properly parent, more consumed with going out, tattoos, an gettin wasted. Or they are hooked on something that takes ahold of their very souls an stops them from caring about anything but their next fix. It takes a village to raise a child! So while everyone is complaining an saying what should be done, what exactly are you doing.

    Sooo, what DO we do about 'bad seed?' Programs out there don't work because the ones who need them most don't go; they'd rather join a gang and cause mayhem. Bringing back absentee fathers won't work because (1) many women don't even know WHO IS the father of each child (sorry, but true); and (2) IF they know who the father is, they can't find them. Sending them off to fight in Afghanistan sounds good, but remember these animals don't accept authority, so they would be a danger to the mitary comrades and the mission. In jail they WILL get their reward - from other inmates.

    I am a born and bred chicagoan, and I didnt grow up on the south or west sides. Not to say that Im better than any who has, but the areas where all black people live, can be the worst. I live in a neighborhood where there is little to no crime and I am also in the city. My children have the freedom to be children and go out and play without worries of being hurt, good schools, and being able to sleep at night. As far as the young man who did it. How can you all sit here and judge and say that he had no remorse, he is a child too and I doubt that to be the case. People take what they want from a story and run away with it. Whos to say that he wasnt remorseful while recounting the story of taking a young girl's life and his own in the same breath. I pray for both of their families, because their lives could have been so much more!!!! And we as a people have to do better its not just black and white all the time... WAKE UP PEOPLE!!
