A Jacksonville, Florida woman has been charged with child abuse after she stuffed her 15-month-old daughter into a gym bag and left her in a car, according to police.

Leendra Dasher, 21, called the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Department to report her 15-month-old daughter missing on October 5.

When the police arrived Dasher told them that she last saw her daughter when tucking her in around 11p.m., stating that she and the child had been alone in the apartment and that she had heard no intrusion.

A short time later, police found the child inside Dasher’s locked vehicle in the parking lot, stuffed into a nylon Puma gym bag.

Officers say when they returned to the apartment to tell Dasher of their find she was, “very calm” and denied any knowledge as to how the child ended up in the car.

Police arrested Dasher and charged her with aggravated child abuse.

She is being held on $150,000 bail.

The little girl is said to be doing fine and has been placed in the custody of relatives.
