An 88-year-old grandmother of seven got an unexpected Christmas gift following an unexpected disaster.

After Rosa Lee Ransby lost her home of 40-years to a house fire last week, media mogul Tyler Perry has stepped in to offer build the woman a new home.

Coweta County firefighters had began collecting donations for Ransby after she lost everything in the fire that burned her house to the ground and almost took the life of her and her and her 4-year-old great-granddaughter.

After hearing about the tragedy, Perry decided to step in.

The Atlanta based film producer offered to rent a house for Ransby and her great-grand for one year.

Perry will also foot her utility bills, buy her furniture and build her a new home on the burned property.

This isn’t the first time Perry has stepped in to offer help after a local misfortune.

As reported in September, he came to the rescue of an Atlanta area boy scout troupe by sending them a check for $10,000 to cover the loss of their camping gear that was stolen by thieves.
