L.A. Reid, former CEO of Island/Def Jam, may be announcing this next label home soon.

Reid, who recently left Island/Def Jam after seven years and will begin serving as a judge on Simon Cowell’s “X Factor” tv show, revealed in an interview yesterday with Hot 97 radio personality Angie Martinez that he’s not done with the music industry just yet.

“Listen, I’m nobody’s fool, I didn’t give up my day job,” he said. “I just left, I had to leave Universal Music Group and try my hat on someplace else, that we’ll announce, well… we’ll announce that in a little while.”

The 54-year-old record producer added,

“You’re not done with me yet. I’m telling you the truth. I have not been shipped off to TV land. I am a record executive and I shall be right there in your face with my records.”

During his career Reid has been responsible for helping launch acts such as Mariah Carey, Kanye West, Usher, Outkast and Justin Bieber.

Although, after he signed a post-jail Shyne to Def Jam for a reported $5 million contract in February of 2010, Reid earned the right to step away from music and reevaluate things for a bit.

We’ll continue to keep an eye on this story and revisit this when Reid does make finally announce his new label home.
