Mo’Nique Awarded For Support Of Gay Rights

Actor Mo’Nique will be honored by the The Human Rights Campaign with the Ally for Equality Award at the gay rights group’s 24th annual gala, on Saturday (May 14).

Human Rights Campaign is claims to be the nation’s largest civil rights organization for lesbian, gay and transgendered people.

The organization took notice to Mo’Nique’s outspokenness about gay and lesbian rights in the media and decided to honor her for her efforts.

The HRC bestows The Ally Award “to allies outside the LGBT community who stand up on behalf of equality for all Americans,” according to the organization.

The event and fundraiser will draw over 1,000 members in attendance and takes place Marriott Marquis in downtown Atlanta.
