Relatives Of Nicki Minaj Say Mistaken Identity Led To Cousin's Death
Nicki Minaj's Family Believe Cousin Was Victim of Mistaken Identity
Relatives of Nicki Minaj are speaking out on the death of her cousin Nicholas Telemaque, killed early Monday morning by gunfire.
As previouslyreported Nicki confirmed that she was grieving writing in a series of tweets,
"Lived in Brooklyn his whole life. My precious cousin, my baby killed last night…my cousin Nicholas murdered near his home last night. Brooklyn, New York.”
Since then relatives of Telemaque have reached out to Radar Online to offer their take on the violence and say that they believe his death was a mistake.
According to his cousin Carol Clarke, the 27-year-old was never in any trouble and kept himself clear of drugs and gangs.
She also adds that Nicki is very distraught over the loss because she and Telemaque were “very close.”
“He was shot in the chest as he walked towards his car close to his home. Nicki is absolutely devastated as are all our family – she was very close to her cousin but now he has gone,” says Clarke.
“He did not run with gangs or anything like that. His friends have told us there wasn't any trouble that night and we believe it could have been a case of mistaken identity but the police are still investigating the case.”
She adds,
“We are still trying to make arrangements for his funeral but I will really miss him because he was a good person.”
Police believe Telemaque was killed during the early hours of Monday morning.
They report that he was shot multiple times in East Flatbush, Brooklyn, around 2.40 a.m. after leaving the C-PAC nightclub with a group of friends.
