Mannie Fresh Talks Mystikal, Lil Wayne And The Hot Boys

When a video of former Cash Money producer Mannie Fresh in the studio with Louisiana rappers Mystikal and Juvenile landed on the internet last week, Hip-Hop fans started to get excited about the possibility of hearing new music from the trio.

But according to Mannie Fresh, don’t expect to hear anything anytime soon.

“Like, to record with [Mystikal] is like pulling teeth,” Fresh said during an interview with HipHopDX.

“He’s a super talented dude, but you can’t get him to stand still for nothing. So it’s kind of been a hard process with me and Mystikal.”

“But I know it’s gonna happen. And I know he gotta feed his family so he kind of all over the place doing shows. But, you know … it’s gonna happen, that’s all I can tell you.”

While Fresh could only say fans can expect new music from Mystikal eventually, the producer also took a moment to talk about his current relationship with Lil Wayne.

“I still talk to [Lil] Wayne. I talked to dude like three days ago,” Mannie Fresh said.

“I called him because he made a step that was so important to Hip Hop – I don’t know if you seen his latest YouTube video, where he’s telling the kids don’t do what he do, and the reason why he drunk syrup was because he thought [that since] we all grew up like that, we all grew up on UGK, and he thought it was the cool thing to do, so that’s why he did it.”

“And he understands now that there’s a lot of people that’s following dude and doing what he does.”

“And he was being sincere. Like, he said some cool Shyte, and I was just like, ‘Wow.’ So I called him myself and was like, ‘Hey dude, I’m proud of you. I’m super-proud of you for what you said and what you did.'”

Mannie Fresh also spoke on the Hot Boys reunion, working with Jeezy and Juvenile. Read Mannie’s full interview with HipHopDX here.
