Hip-Hop Wired caught up with Diggy Simmons while he was out in Los Angeles and the 17 year-old son of rap royalty spoke on a number of topics including the relatively low first week sales of his Unexpected Arrival debut.
“The most important thing for me was that my fans got it and they enjoyed,” offered Diggy, who recently sent lyrical shots J. Cole’s way. “I feel like, once the album’s out for the first week it’s not like you can’t get it anymore. The biggest thing for me is just about growth. Now I have a dope album that I put together that I’m proud of and that’s where it grows from there. ”
The Atlantic Records artist also spoke on “Unforgivable Blackness,” one of the standout cuts from Unexpected Arrival. “We came from having no equality at all. So why don’t we treat each other with respect? Whether we’re trying to reach the same goals or whatever it is, we should definitely be lifting each other up, opposed to bringing each other down in situations.” Watch the rest of Diggy’s interview below.
