Nas and Amy Winehouse had more in common than just making great music, they also share the same birthday—September 14. The British singer was a notable fan of God's Son penning the track “Me and Mr. Jones,” when her boyfriend refused to take her to a Nas concert. The duo went on to collaborate on the Salaam Remi-produced track “Like Smoke,” which was never released but was resurrected as “Cherry Wine,” off Nas' Life Is Good album.

In promotion of his new album, which is expected to debut atop the charts, the rapper spoke with MTV News about working with the late singer. “It was important for me to have Amy because that's what we were doing,” he said of the song. “That was the direction me and her were going in, to work.

One-year after her death Nas is still reeling from the loss of such a great talent. “It's hard to talk about it because she's missed and she's one of a kind. I just want the music to speak for itself. I think it's a magic moment between us, me and her, and may she rest in peace and love.”

After her death the posthumous album Lioness: Hidden Treasures dropped, and according to her father, there will be more music to come; but  let's hope she won't be turned into a hologram.
