Backlash

The backlash that Kanye West and Jay-Z received for the album was unparalleled. Those who created Detox-level anticipation for this album were disappointed that it was not the greatest rap album in the history of all mankind. And it wasn't, fair enough. The other things that caused backlash caused all types of head-scratching. For example, the duo were condemned for taking a Maybach and turning it into a jet-powered joy ride for their video "Otis." They were accused of glorifying their riches, even though the car was eventually auctioned off for charity. Critics claimed that Jay-Z and Kanye's constant 1% talk smack dab in the middle of the "Occupy Wall Street" movement were insensitive to those going through the struggle. What do you expect two multi-millionaires to talk about when they aren't selling drugs or trying to move out of their mom's house anymore? Then, there was the constant illuminati talk that Jigga and Mr. West were doing the work of Satan himself. Yes, Satan. Apparently, conspiracy theorists believed that the artwork inside the album and the messages in the lyrics were satanist and that the two were a part of an all-knowing underground cult that controlled the universe or some BS like that. Dude, get a job.

Not even close, in my opinion watch the throne represents everything thats wrong with hip hop music and the culture itself. Here you have two of the supposed best rappers and lyricists to ever do it and all they can come up with is seventy minutes worth of bling and self worship. Seriously? While I can respect the fact that they are no longer affected by financial troubles, the millions of people who bought the album, attend the shows and watch the videos aren't. So disrepectful. I dont view this album as a work of art. They are just doing their part to keep the 'hood ignorant and brainwashed. The illuminati is real and while these two guys are not sitting at the head table they are definately *****s in the game. Dont be distracted by all the beats and glamour really listen to the lyrics and then decide is the message in this song meant to build me up or destroy me? FYI- Lucifer was in charge of music before he was expelled from heaven!

#1 Take Care wasnt a rap album it was listed as alternative #2 Tha Carter 4 was trash yet it supposedly sold 1million copies the first week... idu how ppl can call it self worship... u have a track called No Church in the Wild, Made In America, & New Day all introspective tracks... its sad when rappers get called out for flossin too much when all rappers talk abt is flossin...

After I heard watch the Throne I really did tuck my whole summer in that was the only album and songs I listened to drake's and Wayne's album's was as commercial as you can get that is why they sold as good as they did both albums didn't even come close to competing with the watch the throne album. Definetly cl*****ic in my opinion and it gave me hope in hip hop
