Rick Ross, John Legend and Anthony Hamilton Shortlisted For 2013 Academy Awards
Remember how awesome it was when Three Six Mafia won their Academy Award? It's a slim chance, but another moment like that might be in our cross hairs.
A number of Hip-Hop and R&B songs off of the Quentin Tarentino-directed, Django Unchained soundtrack were among those chosen to the short list of the 2013 Academy Awards for "Best Original Song."
According to CBS, Rick Ross' "100 Black Coffins" from the Django Unchained soundtrack was included on the list as well as John Legend's "Who Did That to You," Anthony Hamilton's "Freedom," and Elisa Toffoli's “Ancora Qui."
Along with 75 other songs on the list, including Adele's "Skyfall" and Black Keys' "Baddest Man Alive" from RZA's Man with the Iron Fists, chances are still pretty slim that these songs will be up for the Academy Award when the final nominees for the 85th Annual Academy Awards are announced on January 10th.
If Rick Ross somehow ended up nominated and winning the Academy Award, he'd join Three Six Mafia and Eminem as the only rappers ever to win the prestigious Oscar.
