Over a five-hour period, the three teens—Brehon Rawlings, 19, Kewon Matthews, 17, and Kevin Jones, 17, — kidnapped, robbed, and r@ped their 22-year-old victim, after staking out a bar in Upper Darby, Penn.
“These guys treated her like dirt,” said Upper Darby Police Superintendent Michael Chitwood. “They were total animals as far as I'm concerned.”
The victim was waiting for her boyfriend when the three teens approached the vehicle, pulled out a replica 9mm BB gun, and forced their way inside her car. After making her get in the backseat they drove around Upper Darby and Philadelphia for several hours. “She was s-xaully assaulted, she was r-ped, they punched her, they kicked her, they smacked her.”
She also had her purse jewelry, cell phone, car stereo and GPS stolen. “When you see what they did to her…she is a very, very courageous young lady. She was able to articulate where she was, what happened, what they did, who did what.”
After the teens dropped her off outside a bar, the woman phoned her boyfriend who took her to police. Authorities were able to track down two of the suspects after responding to a disturbance at a home nearby, and found a purse matching the victim's inside of the residence. Matthews and Jones were both taken into custody from the home, while the 19-year-old was arrested a day later.
All held on $500,000 bail and charged as adults, the three suspects each face 42 counts including s-xual assault, conspiracy, and false imprisonment.
The teens are due in court for a preliminary hearing on Jan. 31.
