The New York Hip-Hop community is still reeling from the loss of one of its rising young stars, Capital Steez of Pro Era.

During ShowOff Radio on Shade45 last night, Statik Selektah and Sammy Needlz dedicated twenty plus minutes to the young rapper who was gone too soon. Capital Steez, real name Jamal Dewar, cryptically tweeted “The End” before he died of an apparent suicide on Christmas Eve.

“This unfortunate xmas eve.. Lost a best friend, a brother, a pro, a partner. Letting go is never easy.. May ur soul rest in peace Jamal,” Joey tweeted shortly after Steez’s passing that morning.

Statik Selektah, who worked with Steez, Joey Bada$$ and the Pro Era crew on tunes from the 1999 mixtape, spun music off of that project and Steez’s solo mixtape, AmeriKKKan Koruption.
