Philly Man Arrested For Throwing A Woman Onto Subway Tracks [VIDEO]

A man in Philadelphia was arrested Thursday (Jan. 17) for allegedly assaulting a woman, and throwing her onto subway train tracks.

Police apprehended William Clark after the altercation was caught on tape.

On the recording, taken from earlier in the week, Clark can be seen dragging the unidentified passenger on the platform before throwing her over. She was able to get up and walk across the tracks where she climbed up to safety, and sustained minor bumps and bruises.

The victim, a 23-year-old mother, was sitting on a bench when Clark approached and asked her for a lighter for his cigarette.  She gave it to him, put the lighter back in her pocket, and was grabbed by the neck and punched by the suspect before things nearly turned fatal—as they have in three similar incidents  in New York.

Police were able to track Clark down by the jacket he was wearing at the time of the incident. He was also wearing the jacket, which featured one red sleeve, at the time of his arrest. “It was so distinct that we tried to keep the description of the jacket in law-enforcement circles, because it was our best lead on clearing this,” said Southern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority police chief Tom Nestell.

Clark is being held on $2 million bail.
