When Oprah Winfrey interviews you, understand that there will likely be tears involved. LL Cool J is the latest rapper to sit in Winfrey’s hot seat, where  he opened up about being abused.

The Queens native is set to appear on that latest episode of Oprah’s Next Chapter and spoke on the repeated beatings he received as a child. Originally telling the story in his 1988 autobiography, I Make My Own Rules, the man born James Todd Smith, wrote about being attacked by a male friend of his mother’s, and further explained the ordeal with the Queen of Talk.  “It wasn’t s*xual,” he said.  “It was just beatings.”

In a 50 second teaser, LL’s eyes appear to be red, as he recounts the story.

Winfrey classified the incidents as acts of “torture,” and from the sounds of it, she’s right.  Uncle L was struck with vacuum cleaner pipes, told to strip down when taking lashings, and was even thrown out in the snow. Hopefully the rest of the story includes LL detailing how he was able to move on from such a traumatic experience.

The entire Oprah’s Next Chapter interview airs Sunday night at 9 p.m.
