So apparently covering Drake’s “Started From the Bottom,” is some kind of rite of passage. Either that, or rappers are (still) really moved by this record, the latest of which happens to be Machine Gun Kelly.

MGK has a pretty solid flow, and has been known to knock out a freestyle with ease, just as he does here. Kelly rocks the piano beat with a little bit of edge, setting him apart from all the other attempts at covering this record. And just after a minute in, things get interesting.

He even throws in a few angry growls, a la Kendrick Lamar when he’s done massacring a beat.

Between Drizzy’s original, Wiz Khalifa’s go at it, Soulja Boy’s interpretation, and now Kelly’s version, there’s no telling who the public thinks does it best (we do have an idea of who did it the worst, though). Give the newest “Started From the Bottom” a listen, and judge for yourself.
