A Detroit man, in trouble for allegedly threatening to kill his girlfriend, thought he'd show off his freestyling skills to plead his case. Callius Moon rapped during a video arraignment Tuesday (Feb. 5), and managed to impress the judge presiding over his case.

During the short flow Moon spit about people trying to “put it on me like Mike,” among other topics. “Not bad at all sir,” District Judge John Chmura responded. “Very good. It really is Mr. Moon.”

With charges of  malicious destruction of fire or police property and resisting or obstructing a police officer, the judge believes that Moon could be a threat. “I think you are someone from whom the public needs to be protected,” Chmura explained. “You might even be a dangerous person. I am very much concerned about a risk of flight.”

After asking if he needed an attorney, Moon tried to respond with another rap, but Chmura shut the operation down, saying “Show's over.”

The 26-year-old is accused of texting threats to his girlfriend, in addition to resisting arrest, and has traffic violations. On Monday, he went to a gas station he frequents, and wouldn't stop rapping. A clerk called the police because Moon was annoying customers and dancing in the front of the building. When police showed up, Moon continued rapping, struggled with officers, and broke a side-mirror off their squad car.

According to his mother, Moon's not an aspiring musician, but mentally ill.  “My child is not well, he's been mentally disabled for the last three or for years.”

She went on to state that Moon has been diagnosed with depression and suffers from schizophrenia. When he doesn't take his medicine, he raps instead.
