If pure, unfiltered lyricism is your thing, then you will appreciate Homeboy Sandman. Fans of the Queens bred MC will certainly attest, but here’s more proof via a new release titled “The Plot Thickens.” The cut is the third single in a string of new material, all of which will lead to Sandman’s forthcoming project, Kool Herc: Fertile Crescent.
The Boy Sand raps with a confident fluidity on the track, painting a vivid picture in the process, but it’s the beat by Keith Edwards that gives “The Plot Thickens” its warm ambience. Smooth piano keys pair with the perfect baseline, kick and snare to create a track worthy of a head nod from any music lover.
Like what you hear? Well that and more can be found on the Stones Throw lyricist’s Kool Herc: Fertile Cresent, which will release sometime this spring. In the mean time, allow “Whatchu Want From Me,” “Couple Bars,” and some of Sandman’s previous tracks hold you over.
