Tough Losses: Celebrities Who Died From Heroin Overdoses [PHOTOS]

 

The death of Academy Award-winning actor Philip Seymour Hoffman by way of heroin overdose this past Sunday (February 2) shocked fans worldwide. Sadly, Hoffman’s struggles with addiction were known and he joins a growing list of celebrities who have succumbed to drug overdose.

Heroin use has been on the rise according to several reports, signaling a comeback of the highly addictive and dangerous substance. Nearly every facet of the entertainment industry has been affected by the use of the drug, which is essentially the pain medicine, morphine. Artists, singers, rappers, models and actors make up the body of those who have overdosed and died via heroin.

    This is so sad! Heroine should be the easiest
    drug NOT TO DO!
    It seems like such a vile & desolate drug!
    Like a real self hate drug!
    I would never want to be in such a sad state.
    I wish a mutha fucka would tell me to try
    some sh!t like that, I would punch them in
    there face!
    But Rest in Peace to all of them!

    Also Layne Staley from Alice in Chains. His life and death was very interesting and tragic.

      That is exactly what I was thinking… How could they not put Layne on this list, especially when most of his songs were about battling his addiction. RIP Layne!!

    Where in the hell is Layne Staley at on your list!!? One of the best singer/songwriters of all time isn’t on this list?? Plus the majority of what he sung about was his battle with heroin addiction—-I think he should definitely be on this list. RIP Layne Thomas Staley
