If you were fiending for a pair of Nike Air Yeezy 2s in the “Red October” colorway and you weren’t near Twitter on Sunday (February 9), you were sh*t out of luck. The Swoosh brand dropped the ridiculously hyped shoe out of the blue, and it sold out in about 11 minutes.

The tweet dropped at 1 p.m. ET from the @nikestore Twitter with a simple message, “The Nike Air Yeezy 2 is now available,” and a link to purchase a pair.

However, the jig was up a mere 11 minutes later when the next message read “The Nike Air Yeezy 2 has sold out on http://Nike.com.”

The surprise release caught most off guard. Previously, the Kanye West designed sneakers were thought to be coming out on December 24 online only and via Foot Locker. Unfortunately, this never manifested as the release, which was already post-October, was canceled.

Some of those fortunate enough to cop a pair yesterday are already flipping them on eBay, with bidding currently at about $4,000. The retail price, $245.

Nike wins, again.
