The details surrounding the McKinney pool party fight in Texas continue to pour in, but none more staggering than the account of an attendee at the event. Tatiana Rose, who hosted the community pool party with her siblings, says that the weekend confrontation was sparked by racist whites.

Rose, 19, took to YouTube to tell her side of the story. In the clip, Rose opens up explaining that the public cookout at the Craig Ranch housing community was an event she and her sisters held and invited their young friends from the neighborhood.

Rose then says an undetermined number of white neighbors from Craig Ranch began cursing at the party attendees, telling them to “return to their Section 8 housing” and hurling racial slurs at the group. The leader of the racist whites, who Rose identified as a woman named Kate, began cursing at her brother’s young white friend.

“So then they started verbally abusing her, saying that she needs to do better for herself, cursing at her, and I’m saying, no that’s wrong,  she’s 14, you should not say things like that to a 14-year-old,” said Rose.

Rose also said that the Kate woman walked up to her and smacked her in the face. When Rose and friends called police, they went after the Black party goers and ignored the white, Arabic and Hispanic attendees, according to witness accounts. Suspended McKinney police officer Eric Casebolt was caught on video waving his gun at teens who tried to get him from tossing around a young teen girl in a bikini.

Rose’s mother, who owns the home where the party was hosted, said that the neighbors should have confronted her instead of the children and then involving the police.

But looking at the McKinney police force’s response and the neighbors praising the actions of the cops, talking the situation out was probably never going to be an option.
