Lifelong bonds continue to weaken throughout this season. Keisha and Tasha have a falling out as Milan makes an unexpected visit and threatens Tasha. Milan knows that Ghost is still investigating him, and he wants it to stop. So going through Tasha (family attachments) with another message was the key. Keisha, who knew nothing of the money laundering, finally knows and is pissed.
Stop reading if you don’t want spoilers to our recap of Power‘s episode 8!
The ultimate trust has been broken and nothing, not even a 500K plea to escape from Tasha can salvage their friendship. Keisha has unexpectedly appeared on Milan’s radar, as he orders Tommy to kill her to send a message and tie up loose ends. Tommy makes the house call, but does he go through with it or will he find another way?
By bringing Tommy closer into the organization, establishing him as the de facto spokesperson, and upstaging Ghost by having a primary meeting in Truth (and killing Shin for all to see), Milan has intensified his narcotic chess game and continues to widen the rift between Tommy and Ghost. Milan recognizes the tragic flaw within Tommy, which is his attachment to Ghost, and preaches the idea of “no attachments” to both expose and eliminate it completely. Tommy and Ghost have different ambitions in life, and Milan recognizes that their dueling desires can motivate them to do whatever it takes to see their dreams become reality.
Ghost won’t stop until he’s free of Milan and Tommy just wants to be respected and rich off the street game. Ghost’s investigation into Milan’s secret hideout reveals that Tommy knew its location this entire time, but had Ghost told Tommy his plan, the extra legwork (and getting drunk at local bars) could’ve been avoided. Their trust for one another has been waning since the end of season 2, and knowing that with each other’s life on the line, they blatantly lie, will only intensify the feelings of betrayal.

Kanan continues his quest for revenge by getting closer to Tariq, through Dre. Posing as a childhood friend who knows the real Ghost, Kanan moves more calculated and methodical than before. Dre tries to run interference, but Kanan befriends Tariq and uses the opportunity to show another side of Ghost. Clearly, Kanan wants to murder Tariq, but when he sees Tariq’s disdain for Ghost and frustration with his father’s lying ways, Kanan seizes the opportunity to use a different method for revenge. Kanan wants to flip Tariq the way Ghost mentored Shawn, and thus creating another enemy within. This trip down memory lane and the new plan makes Kanan more dangerous than ever.

As the hunt for the mole continues to intensify, Angela reaches survival mode. She researches Ghost’s and Tommy’s alibi as is hell bent on exoneration by any means necessary. She puts pressure on Tasha (after visiting her IN HER HOME for the billionth time), Tommy’s mom and Ghost to come clean, or find the mole. Researching surveillance video, Angela corroborates Ghost’s alibi and finally accepts that she’s been played, so as she told MJ and the Office of Professional Responsibility, she goes into asset mode and starts using the people who’ve used and disrespected her this entire time.
Angela gets Ghost to bring Hugo’s phone as evidence on the mole while banishing him completely from her life. No greater image of ulterior motives was shown then the scene where she rekindles her relationship with Knox. They both need to control one another to succeed and use sex as a weapon. Knox loves and hates Angela so much, that he sleeps with her to provide comfort to himself and a false sense of security to her as he wants to take her and Ghost down once and for all. Angela uses sex to keep Knox at bay and off her back as she clears her name. They are both playing each other and are none the wiser.
Trust has evaporated and self-interests have supplanted any love or friendships on this show. Everyone is looking out for self, and by the end of this season, whoever is left standing, may stand alone.
