In the age of Trump, journalists and political figures have become rock stars to members of the resistance and few have the same gusto and appeal as Maxine Waters. The California Democratic Congresswoman with more swag than some of your favorite rappers dropped by The Breakfast Club today (Aug. 7) to talk politics and Hip-Hop with the morning trio.
When she wasn’t pointing out obvious truths about the nation’s current Comrade-In-Chief, Auntie Maxine was talking about why she stood up for rap in the 90’s and why Tupac is her favorite rapper.
Also, peep her at this year’s Black Girls Rock.
But first, here are the 9 things we learned from Queen Maxine Waters on The Breakfast Club.

1. Bank Black
She got in trouble for believing in Banking Black during the bailout. After she called the treasury department on behalf of a bank that was taken over by Fanny Mae, she ended up under investigation. Of course, she was exonerated because she did nothing wrong.
2. Tupac
Tupac is her favorite rapper because “there was a certain sensitivity about him.” She also got to know his mom, Afeni Shakur, and “Dear Mama” showed her a different side of Pac. She even met Tupac during a Mother’s Day program in Los Angeles.
3. Rap Music
She used to defend rap music even during the gangster era because she knew it created a “whole new economic opportunity for Black people.”
4. Rap Today
Her current Hip-Hop playlist features Chance The Rapper and says she likes fellow St. Louis native Nelly adding that “he’s fine.” LOL.
5. Uncensored
Like all of us she doesn’t believe rap should be censored because it’s “unconstitutional” and if you don’t want to hear it “don’t listen to it.”
6. Donald Trump
Mrs. Maxine gives Trump til December before he gets impeached. She doesn’t mince words when saying she feels that Trump the worst President she’s ever experienced because she believes he cares and believes in nothing.
7. Barack Obama
As far as Obama goes she feels that he didn’t get more done because there wasn’t enough “interaction” and he didn’t have the public backing from the community needed to get through to congress and legislatures.
8. 2020
Speaking about the 2020 Presidential race she says she has work to do and says she’s “good where I am.” As far as Corey Booker and Kamala Harris she says they should run if they want to run.
9. She’s Not The One
For those who are threatening her, Mrs. Maxine says “If you gonna shoot you better shoot straight because a wounded animal is the worst thing you can deal with.” Gotta love this woman.
