Here’s another one for the “What white privilege?” and the “All lives matter” gang. A Georgia cop soothed an anxious white woman who feared he might shoot her by saying, “Remember, we only kill Black people.”
Yes, this really happened.
In dashcam footage, the woman tells the Cobb County officer she didn’t want to reach for her cell phone because she’s seen “way too many videos” of cops killing motorists. The headass cop, Lt. Greg Abbott, told her, “But you’re not Black. Remember we only kill Black people. Yeah, we only kill Black people, right?”
If this interaction hadn’t been recorded, would you believe it?
Black people have been telling you about this type of blatant disrespect for YEARS. Believe us now?
As for the cop, he’s been placed on desk duty pending an investigation. Umm, how about he gets fired?
Even more suspect is the officer’s lawyer’s explanation.
“His comments must be observed in their totality to understand their context,” said Abbot’s lawyer in a statement to WSB-TV. “He was attempting to de-escalate a situation involving an uncooperative passenger. In context, his comments were clearly aimed at attempting to gain compliance by using the passenger’s own statements and reasoning to avoid making an arrest.”
There is no “context” where such a rhetoric is acceptable, period
