Actor Bernie Casey of I’m Gonna Git You Sucka fame, and numerous other films, has passed away. He was 78.
According to TMZ, Casey died on Wednesday (Sept. 20) while surrounded by family, per his press rep. The former NFL player had fallen ill rather suddenly and was admitted to the hospital a few days ago.
Casey was a Pro Bowl wide receiver and starred in numerous Blaxploitation films including Cleopatra Jones, Black Gunn and Cornbread, Earl and Me.
Notably, he was the first Black man to play CIA agent Felix Leiter in the James Bond film Never Say Never Again which starred Sean Connery.
