It took him a few days but Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson has finally released a statement about the alleged domestic attack on his wife, Evelyn Lozada. In the aftermath, the wide receiver was cut from the Miami Dolphins, and has been facing public backlash amid allegations that he head-butted his bride of only a month. Although he did not directly admit to, or deny, the reports, the 34-year-old offered an apology to the public, and vowed to never speak ill of Lozada.

“I would like to wish Evelyn well and will never say anything bad about her because I truly love her to death.” he said. “To all the fans and supporters I have disappointed, you have my sincerest apologies.  I will stay positive and get through this tough period in my life.”

Lozada also released a statement, expressing her disappointment. “It is with great sadness and much trepidation that I release this statement addressing the domestic violence incident that happened this past Saturday,” she told Entertainment Tonight. “I am deeply disappointed that Chad has failed to take responsibility for his actions and made false accusations against me, it is my sincere hope that he seeks the help he needs to overcome his troubles. Domestic violence is not okay and hopefully my taking a stand will help encourage other women to break their silence as well. I’m grateful to my family, friends and fans for the outpouring of support during this difficult time.”

The reality star has also filed for divorce, and the couple’s VH1 show Ev & Ocho has been cancelled.

As for Ocho, even though he is currently unemployed, and likely looking down the barrel of an epic public relations nightmare, he has no intentions of ending his career. “I will continue to be positive and train hard for another opportunity in the NFL,” he said.
