Ernest Osei Addo is in trouble with the law for pretending to be doctor at five senior-care facilities in South Carolina. The 48-year-old was taken to the Cobb County Detention Center in Georgia Friday (Aug. 25), and is accused of treating more than 500 people—without so much as an ounce of medical training.

For whatever reason, Addo assumed the identity of a doctor friend, whose name has not been released.  The man ended up busting Addo, for using his name, and his credit cards.

Addo’s patients belonged to Agape Senior Primary Care, and the facility apparently had no way of knowing that he was not really a doctor. “This individual came highly recommended from his previous employer where he practiced as a physician,” Agape said in a statement. “Further, he provided Agape with all necessary information to practice as a physician and pass through third-party credentialing.”

Agape hired Addo in February, he worked at the nursing home until he quit last Wednesday (Aug. 22). Not surprisingly, he decided not to return to the facility once his friend filed an identity theft complaint with police. He will be extradited to South Carolina, and is fully cooperating with authorities.

By posing as a doctor, Addo has landed on a list with the likes of DMX, who has experience pretending to be someone else. X was busted in 2004 for impersonating a FBI officer at John F. Kennedy Airport, so perhaps he can give Addo some advice on how to bounce back from such an embarrassing (and unlawful) blunder.
