Michelle Obama traveled to North Carolina Wednesday (Aug. 1), to elicit voter support for President Obama’s re-election. The first lady urged a crowd of 2,000 at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, to help her husband get re-elected.

Mrs. Obama also encouraged supporters to take heed of her “It Takes One,” program, which stresses the importance of voting. She reminded the audience to get their friends, neighbors, and relatives involved. “That one new voter that you register … that one neighbor you help get to the polls, that could be the one who makes the difference,” she said.

During the 2008 election, the president won the state of North Carolina, by just 14,000 votes.

While the outcome of his bid for another four years can potentially go either way, things have been looking good for the commander in chief. Three months before the November election, Obama remains ahead off his opponent, Mitt Romney, clocking small victories in pivotal battleground states. He also has more delegates than Romney, who just returned from a disastrous (and pointless) campaign trek overseas.

Today the president is headed to Orlando for a campaign event at Rollins College, before traveling to Leesburg, Va. to deliver remarks at Loudon County High School. Meanwhile, Romney will spend the day in Colorado hosting a campaign event at Jefferson County Fairgrounds, participating in a GOP Governors Basalt event, and ending the day at a fundraiser in Aspen.
