Only a few years ago the Air Force One reigned supreme as Hip-Hop’s go to sneaker. Back then if you threw on some white on whites, your outfit was automatically a go.

Fast-forward to 2013 and only the choicest Nike Uptown colorways are not considered official wet tissue. No hate, but when’s the last time you wore your Jay-Z inspired button up shirt with some Ones? We thought so.

Now the streets have a new undisputed sneaker in the Air Jordan 3. Originally released in 1988, the 3’s are a perfect balance of style and legacy. With Michael Jordan’s third signature shoe being retro’d again (multiple times) this year—the latest being the OG Fire Red colorway—it is only right we give you 11 reasons why the Air Jordan 3 is your new every day sneaker.

As always, feel free to agree or disagree in the comments, just have a damn good explanation.

The much revered elephant print is a classic touch that just give this shoe that undeniable cool that will always be everything.

The Jordan 3 Black Cements go with pretty much ANYTHING – even the very necessary camouflage print.

Let’s face it – the Air Force One is a soft shoe.

The first appearance of the Jumpman logo – need we say more?

Simply put, the Jordan 3’s are pretty much bulletproof in terms of fashion. You know that weight that the Ralph Lauren Polo logo holds – same thing goes for the 3’s.

The greatest basketball player ever wore the 3’s in the greatest NBA dunk contest ever. No offense to you Vince Carter.

The details in the Jordan 3’s make this such a fun shoe to own – the multi lace hole pattern on the front side, eyelets up top..we could go on for days.

You can actually hoop in a pair of Jordan 3’s. No offense Rasheed Wallace.

Hip-Hop will always love the Air Force 1, but just reference OG Philadelphia rhyme stylists Three Times Dope to understand the III is official with a whistle, since ’88.

Guess which Jordan sneaker is MJ’s favorite? No hints though.

You can never go wrong with a Mars Blackmon cosign b.
