NFL linebacker Brandon Spikes made an ill-fated pop culture reference to the Best Picture-winning 12 Years a Slave in a diss to his old team, the New England Patriots.
The four-year player out of Florida took advantage of his free agency by pissing in the tea on the Dartmouth and signing with division rival Buffalo Bills.
Yet, it was what was said following the NFL releasing their 2014 schedule that really made the statement.
On his official Twitter account, Spikes went all the way in saying, “it’s icing on my cake to hand the #Patriots two big L’s this year. #justwatch 4 years a slave.”
Instantly he was vilified by Patroits fans, whom were affectionately nicknamed “massholes.”
Bill Belichick and the rest of the Kraft organization have been known to run an extremely tight ship but slavery seems a bit extreme, no? NFL players all have to obey the laws of the land if they want to collect their checks without any zeroes missing and Spikes is just another cog in the machine. What would Lupita say?
