Remember when Kanye West was killing it as a producer and everyone in the industry wanted a piece of his then signature sped-up soul sample sound? Well DJ Mustard is feeling that same thirst now. He stopped by The Breakfast Club to discuss this and a lot more during his recent visit.
In the last two years the man born Dijon McFarlane has pretty much owned Rap radio with a barrage of beats that have helped Tyga, 2Chainz, YG and others dominate the charts.
But as dominant as his sound has been, everything that glitters isn’t gold. DJ Envy, Angela Yee and Charlamagne Tha God kick square biz with Mustard to reveal a disconnect in royalty check payments, Mistah Fab’s slick comments and his upcoming album.
So rightfully we present the top 8 things we learned from The Breakfast Club DJ Mustard interview. Let us know what you found most interesting in the comments section below.

Black Ink
We knew Mustard was into tattooing but who knew he had a YG tat on the side of his face though?
Discounts
Even though he keeps a lot of strong relationships in the industry, he was adamant about not giving discounted prices regarding his beats.
Hold The Mustard
The producer announced he started a diet. Unfortunately it is not driven by his health but a desire to be able to fit into more name brand clothing. SMH.
Oakland
Previously Mistah Fab had paid a visit to The Breakfast Club. In his interview he threw some salt towards Mustard’s saying he is stealing the Oakland sound. Mustard denied even knowing about too much about Fab but the above tweet tells it differently.
Food
While he is on a diet, his will power can’t fight off his love for chicken wings and french fries.
Sanctified
Also interesting to find out that the original beat Mustard submitted to Kanye West sounds vastly different from the finished version of “Sanctified.”
Royalty Checks
The biggest royalty check he has received to date was for producing Tyga’s “Rack City.” Mustard stated that he has yet to get royalty checks for anything he has produced this year.
Family
Even though the groupie love is high, Mustard likes the relationship he has with his child’s mother. Kudos.
